| + | **Boys of our Empire** began as a 1d paper called **Boys of the Empire**. This was to put it in direct competition with [[boys_of_the_empire_new|another paper]] of the same name (but costing ½d) published by [[edwin_j_brett|EJ Brett]]. However the title was changed to Boys of our Empire when the Brett paper announced a price increase to 1d. Boys of Our Empire was 16 pages (first issue 24 pages) like the Brett paper, but the paper used was thick and high quality. The size increased to 20 pages on June 21st 1902. | ||
